ASADABAD (Pajhwok): For the first time, a dirt road has been constructed to the Chiragul valley of Narai district in eastern Kunar province, with residents showering flowers at vehicles arriving there.
The road, which is about 12 kilometers long, was built with financial support of the Ministry of Defense. The road connects Chiragul valley with the district center.
Maulvi Mohammad Zahir, Narai district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the road’s construction work took two months to complete.
He said about 400 local residents were provided jobs during the construction of the road.
He added the road would not only facilitate the movement of people but would also help in supplying logistics to security forces.
Abdul Wahed, a resident of the valley, said the villagers were so happy with the construction of the road that they welcomed the vehicles with flowers and gunfire.
Farooq, a tribal elder from Chiragul Dara, also expressed happiness over the construction of the road to their area.
He said that in the past, people used to take their patients to hospital on animals, but now the problems of the people have been solved.
