Kandahar: Pregnant woman falls into deep well

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A pregnant woman has fallen into a deep well in the Khakrez district of southern Kandahar province.

The incident took place in the Sarkano area of the district on Tuesday night, locals said.

Mohammad Shah, a resident of the area, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok Afghan News. He would not say how the woman fell into the well.

He added a rescue team rushed to the area but the woman was yet to be rescued from the well.

Niamatullah Saraji, director of public works, told Pajhwok that he had sent rescuers to the locality, where an operation was underway.

Without commenting on the woman’s condition, the official said that she was alive.
