8 persons killed, 3 hurt in Daikundi accident

NELLI (Pajhwok): Eight people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in central Daikundi province on Thursday, an official said.

The accident happened at around 11:30 am when a passenger coach skidded off the road and overturned in the Qonaq Tunnel in Meramour district, Police Chief Mohammad Ali Fedae said.

He did not provide more detail but added security personnel had been dispatched to the site of the accident, he said, adding investigation into the incident had been launched while the injured had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to some sources, three women were among those killed in the accident.
