KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) says it has arrested some people for insulting the verses of the Holy Quran.
Ajmal Hamraz, the spokesman for the GDI, also shared a confessional video clip of the arrested people on his Twitter handle.
Hamraz wrote on his Twitter page: "No one is allowed to insult or make fun of the Quranic verses, prophetic hadiths and Islamic holy things under the rule of the Islamic system; Those who have insulted and ridiculed the verses of the Holy Quran recently have been arrested."
One of the detainees in the video is YouTuber Ajmal Haqiqi. A former model, Haqiqi used to share various social and entertainment topics on his YouTube channel.
In the video, Ajmal Haqiqi is seen with three other detainees who are wearing prison uniform and their hands are tied.
He also confessed to working for vulgarity through his YouTube channel and supported the previous republican system. He apologized to the government, Afghans and all Muslims.
A colleague of him known as ‘Ghulam Sakhi’ on social media is also seen in the video, but he is not wearing the prisoner's uniform.
Ajmal Haqiqi says his colleague is suffering from mental problems.
Journalist Mirwais Afghan said Ajmal Haqiq made the confession under duress. He wrote on Twitter that Ajmal Haqiqi and Ghulam Sakhi "confessed under the force of a stick. “The other thing is the detainees are introduced as criminals before their trial."
But another person Osama Taniwal expressed his happiness over the arrest of the mentioned persons, saying that "this country is not a place for spreading obscenity and western culture."
