GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Five thousand people in Ghazni City, the provincial capital, and some districts have been provided work opportunities in return for wheat, an official said on Saturday.
The labors are tasked to cleaning up ditches and rehabilitate rural roads.
Hafiz Umar, the governor’s spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News each worker received 10 kilograms of wheat at the end of the day.
He said Ghazni province received thousands tonnes of wheat from the centre, currently 5,000 labors are provided work opportunities in returns for wheat in Ghazni City and some districts, adding that this process will be extended to all 18 districts.
Asadullah , one of the labours, said that he works six days a week and is given 10kg of wheat every day which is a good opportunity for the unemployed people.
Hazrat Bilal, a tribal elder, said that people faced problems due to dilapidated condition of roads, patients could not reached hospital on time.
He demanded the extension of work against wheat process to all districts.
