Police directed to wear uniforms in duty hours

KABUL (Pajhwok): With the completion of the distribution process, police personnel do not have the right to discharge duty without wearing uniforms, a statement said on Thursday.

On June 8, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) introduced new uniforms for police and its distribution began the same day in Kabul and Kandahar provinces.

The ministry stressed a single uniform reflected order, and discipline and helped control incidents of insecurity.

Kabul police chief Wali Jan Hamza, addressing a gathering on Wednesday, directed relevant authorities to ensure the use of uniforms after their distribution.

In a statement, the Kabul police headquarters said no policeman reserved the right to discharge duty without wearing uniforms or putting on local dress at checkpoints.

Until recently, security personnel discharged their duty, wearing irregular uniforms and local dress.
