KABUL (Pajhwok): India on Saturday voiced its deep concern at a bomb attack on a Sikh temple in Kabul, saying it was closely monitoring the situation.
“We are deeply concerned at the reports emanating from Kabul about an attack on a Gurudwara in the city,” the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi said.
A statement from the ministry, cited by ANI news agency, said India was closely monitoring the situation and waiting for further details of unfolding developments.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted “The cowardly attack on Gurdwara in Kart-i-Parwan should be condemned in the strongest terms by all.
“We have been closely monitoring developments since the news of the attack was received. Our first and foremost concern is for the welfare of the community.”
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which left two people dead and several others trapped in the Gurdwara.
In Kabul, Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takour told reporters the dead included a Sikh devotee and an Afghan guard.
