Fuel, Kazakh flour rates up in Kabul markets

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel, Kazakh flour and Indian sugar have increased, but the prices of some other items remained unchanged in Kabul markets in the outgoing week.

An Employee of Ahmadyar Group pump station told Pajhwok Afghan News the rate of one-liter petrol increased from 80 afs to 88 afs and diesel from 91 to 105 afs this week.

He said the reason behind the surge in petrol and diesel was an increase in international market prices.

It is worth mentioning that following the Ukraine-Russia war, international crude oil prices, especially fuel had risen.

According to fuel price statistics provided by the Oil Price, the rates of fuel was on the rise in recent months.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in the Kalola Pushta area of Kabul, said the price of liquefied gas declined from 68 afs to 66 afs.

Zamari Safi, head of the Food Traders Association in Kabul, said the wholesale price of 49-kilogram of Khazaki flour surged from 2,600 afs to 2,700 afs while a bag of 49-kilogram of Indian sugar surged from 3,100 afs to 3,300 afs.

He added the wholesale rate of 24.5-kilogram Pakistani rice remained unchanged as of last week at 3,000 afs, 16 litres of Malaysian cooking oil at 3,000 afs, one kilogram of black African tea at 400 afs and one kilogram of green Indonesian tea at 350 afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna Bagh area of Kabul, said the price of 49-kilogram of Khazaki flour stood at 2,750 afs, 24-kilograms of Pakistani rice at 3,050 afs, 49-kilogram of Indian sugar at 3,350 afs, 16 litres of Malaysian cooking oil at 3,050 afs, one kilogram of green Indonesian tea at 400 afs and one kilogram of black African tea at 450 afs.

A jewelry seller at the Lacy Maryam market of Kabul said the price of one gram of Arabian gold Ayar 750 stood at 4,400 afs and one gram of Russian gold Ayar 585 at 3,400 afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat money exchange at Sara-i-Shahzada, said one dollar was purchased at 89 afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees were purchased at 430 afs.

Last week, one US dollar was purchased at 88 afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees was purchased at 440 afs.
