KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and kickboxing competitions have been held in northern Kunduz province.
At least 31 Afghan fighters and 13 foreign athletes from Pakistan, Iran and Azerbaijan participated in the contests, organisers said.
Jamil Amiri, in charge of the tournament, told Pajhwok Afghan News national players had been able to win the event with 11 wins and two losses to their foreign opponents.
He said Afghan fighters participating in the two-day tournament won most of the competitions but lost to their Pakistani and Iranian rivals.
Qudratullah Mubarez, an Afghan kick-boxer who beat his Pakistani opponent, said: “More such competitions be held and it is really an honour that such a tournament has been hosted by Kunduz.”
