JALALABAD (Phjhwok): The Agriculture Department of eastern Nangarhar has launched a campaign to prevent deforestation and smuggling of timber in mountainous areas.
On the day one of the campaign, officials seized four trucks loaded with timber from PachirAgam district.
Agriculture director Mawlavi Abdul Sattar Mohammad confirmed the launch of the campaign to Pajhwok Afghan News and added that they would try to preserve the natural resources and extend the campaign to other districts in future.
Local residents welcomed the campaign and called it useful.
