NEILLI (Pajhwok): Bibi Gul, 27, a resident of the capital of central Daikundi province, complains about her poor economic situation, saying her husband is disabled and cannot work.
Bibi Gul is living with her family in Sokhtug area of Neili city and is originally from Khadeer district.
She said she married Hanif three years ago and her husband has been disabled from childhood.
The couple has two children and complains about their poor economic situation.
Bibi Gul said her husband’s one hand, one leg and half body were paralyzed and unable to move.
According to her, no aid giving agency has so far approached them during the ongoing year and she went to such organizations for months but in vain.
The poor woman said previously they received aid from donor agencies but currently they were forced to beg on the street in order to find a living.
Mohammad Danish, head of the association for the development of disabled, also acknowledged the poor economic situation of this family.
He said he had tried many times to explain the economic problems of Bibi Gul and her disabled husband to the institutions, but to no avail.
According to Danish, about 99 percent of people with disabilities in Daikundi suffer from unemployment, poverty and economic hardships.
Danish added the salaries of the disabled for the last six months of the previous year and this year had not been paid by the government and it put severe economic pressure on these families.
About 10,000 people with disabilities have been registered in Daikundi and if their problems are not addressed their children would starve to death.
Pajhwok tried to contact officials of the Department of Martyrs and Disabled of the province but failed.
