KABUL (Pajhwok): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi denounced as “barbaric” Saturday’s terrorist attack on a Sikh temple in Kabul.

At least five people, including three attackers and a Sikh, were killed as a series of explosions hit the gurudwara, in Kart-i-Parwan area of the capital.

Condemning the incident, the Indian premier tweeted: “Shocked by the cowardly terrorist attack against the Kart-i-Parwan gurudwara in Kabul.”

Modi wrote: “I condemn this barbaric attack, and pray for the safety and well-being of the devotees.”

Also on Saturday, Pakistan strongly condemned the attack as an act of terrorism targeting religious places.”

“Pakistan is seriously concerned at the recent spate of terrorist attacks on places of worship in Afghanistan,” the Foreign Office said.

In a statement, the Foreign Office recalled the terrorists targeted the Imam Sahib Mosque in Kunduz, killing and injuring many worshippers.

Pakistan expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and supported efforts of Afghan authorities for fighting terrorism and ensuring the protection of all their citizens.

Meanwhile, the UAE also condemned the two terrorist attacks that took place in Afghanistan, one of which targeted a mosque and a second hit the Sikh temple.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) said the UAE condemned the criminal acts and rejected all forms of violence and terrorism.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the Afghan people and to the families of the victims. It also wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
