JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two civilians were killed and 28 others wounded as a result of an explosion in the Shinwari district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday.
The blast ripped through the vehicle of a public health official in the Shergar Bazaar area of the district at 9:00am.
The Information and Culture Department confirmed to Pajhwok the blast targeted the district public health chief, Shah Mahmood.
According to the department, two civilians were killed and 28 more, including five security personnel, wounded.
A source in the Jalalabad Zonal Hospital, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed receiving more than 20 injured people from the site. Four of them are in critical condition.
Aziz Khan, a resident of the area, said two people were killed and a number of others wounded in the bombing.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
