BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): At least 60,000 foreign and local tourists visited central Bamyan province in the past three months, an official said on Monday.

Governor Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the arrival of tourists helped boost businesses and create employment opportunities.

“According to the figures collected, about 60,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited the province in last three months,” he added.

He said the government was committed to maintaining security of tourists across the country.

Tourists when asked considered the atmosphere of Bamyan suitable for traveling and expressed their satisfaction with visiting the ancient places of the province.

Mohammad Haidar, a resident of Balkh, who traveled to Bamyan, told Pajhwok: “We did not face any security problem on the road, we visited interesting places such as Buddhas, Ghalghal and Band-i-Amir National Park.”

With its historical sites and beautiful nature landscapes, Bamyan is one of the most important tourist destinations in the country, attracting thousands of domestic and foreign tourists to the province every year.
