PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Work on three projects worth 24 million afghanis was launched in northern Baghlan province on Wednesday, an official said.
The projects including two bridges and one drinking water well are being executed in Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, Dehna Ghori and Doshi districts with financial support of the Agha Khan Foundation.
Mohammad Khan Amini, an official of the Agha Khan Foundation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the projects would benefit thousands of people.
He said the projects would cost 24 million afghanis to be provided the Agha Khan Foundation.
Baghlan economy director Maulvi Abdul Matin Akhunzada told Pajhwok Afghan News security had been ensured across the country and NGOs should carry out similar projects in remote areas.
Meanwhile, Raz Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Pul-i-Khumri's Afsotar area, said construction work on a bridge had started in their area for the first time.
He said had witnessed many traffic accidents because there was a school and children used to cross the road.
According to Baghlan officials, the project will be completed by the end of this year.
