Kabul’s industrial park items to be sent to quake victims

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Industrialist Association (AIA) has pledged to support recent earthquake victims with products made in the Small Industrial Park in the capital Kabul.

Addressing reporters here, the AIA Head Abdul Jabbar Safi, said different items produced in the small industrial park would be provided to recent earthquake victims in Paktika and Khost provinces.

He urged the government and relevant authorities to make sure that the assistance and relief is provided in an organized manner and deserving people received the aid.

Recalling the industrialists meeting with the Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Habatullah Akhundzada, he said it was a positive meeting.

During the meeting, he said private sector representatives spread light on matters related to the economy, investment, poverty eradication and protection of investors.

Safi said Afghanistan in the past had seven billion dollars of imports but currently the import of items declined to three billion dollars.

He said in order to further decline the imports there was a need for the encouragement of investment and strengthening of the industry.

Assistant AIA Head Haji Najibullah said after the political change in the country most of the investors went abroad and pulled out their capital but industrialists remained in the country and industry was going smoothly.
