KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Afghan Defense Minister Maulvi Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid has met with the Emir of Qatar and other civil and military officials and discussed with them defense and security cooperation between the two countries.
The Ministry of Defense in a statement said Mujahid soon after arrival in Doha called on Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who was also accompanied by Minister of Defense Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah.
Mujahid thanked Qatar for support to the people of Afghanistan and stressed the assistance should continue.
The statement said Maulvi Yaqub Mujahid also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Musnad, National Security Adviser to the Emir of Qatar, and the two sides discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in various fields.
He also met with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Qatari Chief of Army Staff Al-Fariq Al-Rakn Salem Hamad Al-Nabat in Doha and discussed various issues.
The Ministry of Defense said that the Acting Minister and his accompanying delegation also visited the Joint Military Operations Center in Qatar and met with the Commander of the Joint Military Operations Center.
The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the development of defense and security ties, the statement added.
The Acting Minister of Defense expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation of Qatar with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and called for more assistance in this regard.
Maulvi Mohammad Yaqub also met with a delegation of Afghans living in Qatar.
