TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Overnight flash flooding killed eight people, including women and children, in the Gezab district of central Uruzgan province, officials said on Friday.
The dead including two women and three children were members of two families, Qari Saeed, a media official in Uruzgan, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The fatalities occurred in the Khalaj area of Gizab district.
Without elaborating about financial losses, he said people’s homes and farms had also been destroyed and a delegation from the provincial capital had been sent to the area to conduct a thorough investigation and provide assistance to the victims.
The latest fatalities come as recent rain-induced floods and storms have caused heavy life and financial losses to people in different parts of the country.
