FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A woman in northern Badakhshan province has lost her quadruplets due to a belated arrival at hospital¸ an official said on Tuesday.
Dr. Wakeela, head of the Gynecology Department at the Badakhshan Civil Hospital, said the woman from the Shahr-i-Kohna area of Faizabad gave birth to quadruplets.
She told Pajhwok Afghan News the patient had just completed the 29th week of her pregnancy. As a result of their premature birth, she said, all the babies died.
“All the four babies were boys, two died before their birth and two soon afterward due to respiratory problems,” the doctor explained.
Dr. Wakeela asked families to bring their patients to the hospital in time. She stressed complicated deliveries should take place in the hospital. Late arrivals could cause the loss of babies and mothers, she warned.
