SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): At least 300 war-affected families in three districts of northern Jawzjan province have been provided with milking cows.
The cows were distributed to the affected families in Mardiyan, Mankajak and Darzab districts.
Abdul Qayum, director of Refugees and Repatriation Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that UNHCR provided the aid in order to support the displaced, needy and war affected families.
According to him, each family received one cow and one calf and 400 kilograms of animal feed,
According to him, under this program, every family was given one milking cow and one calf, 400 kilograms of animal fodder, 840 kilograms of straw and some livestock tools.
This program started today (Wednesday) and will be implemented in the center and districts of Jawzjan in next two days.
KhodaiRahman, a resident of Darzab district, said that three years ago, he left his district due to war and insecurity and displaced to Shiberghan city, and he lost everything at that time.
Now his financial condition is not good but he is pleased with the assistance.
Meanwhile, Shoaib, a resident of FarukQala village in Mardian district, said: "I have just returned from Pakistan, my house was destroyed by wars, I am busy with the construction of my house, but I have no source of income."
He added: "The village elders had given my name to receive this assistance and I am happy that today they gave me one cow and one calf; with this assistance, I can slowly improve my life."
The aid comes about a month after goats and laying hens were distributed in some districts of the province in order to improve the economic situation of needy and war-affected families.
