KABUL (Pajhwok): Kazakhstan has expressed its readiness to take part in the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway line.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev voiced his nation’s readiness while addressing the Central Asian Summit, a media report said on Thursday.
While underlining the need for enhanced regional transport connectivity, he spoke about the role of Central Asia in this regard.
AKIpress News Agency quoted the president as saying: “The role of our region in the promotion and development of transcontinental trade … is growing rapidly.”
The Kazakh leader maintained: “We can ensure the uninterrupted supply of materials for the upper structure of the railway tracks and provide rolling stock.”
Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan signed a roadmap for the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railroad in February 2021.
