PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The construction of the trans-Afghan railroad will pave the way for greater regional trade and connectivity, hopes Uzbekistan.
Participating in a regional roundtable discussion in Islamabad on Friday, the Uzbekistan ambassador to Pakistan hoped the rail project would be completed soon.
Aybek Arif Usmanov believed a transit trade agreement (TTA) between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would help regional countries expand their trade horizons.
The event was hosted by the Centre for Central Asia and Eurasian Studies at the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with Embassy of Uzbekistan and the Riphah Institute of Public Policy.
Speaking online from Tashkent, Director of SCO Centre for Public Diplomacy Kabuljon Sabirov noted burgeoning people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Dr. Amna Mehmood, professor at the Department of Politics at the International Islamic University, urged Pakistan and Uzbekistan to work together for promoting peace in Afghanistan.
