Covid-19 cases on the rise in Maidan Wardak

Covid-19 cases on the rise in Maidan Wardak

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): The Public Health Department registered 68 positive Covid-19 cases during just five days in central Maidan Wardak province, officials said.

Mohammad Zarak Zerak, the director of public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Covid-19 infection cases are on the rise in Maidan Wardak province, 184 suspicious samples were examined during this week, 68 of them were diagnosed positive”. While during the last week, only 142 suspicious samples were examined and only 40 of them were tested positive.

He said the Covid-19 vaccination campaign has also been launched since three days and nearly 98 thousand people received the jabs which he called a positive step for Covid-19 pandemic control.

The director of health surveillance, Wahidullah Rauofi, told Pajhwok that the Covid-19 specialized provincial hospital was functional and dozens of suspicious patients were tested every day for Covid-19. Currently, only seven patients are hospitalized for Covid-19 disease.
