KABUL (Pajhwok): Following assistance from the World Food Programme (WFP), the Kabul municipality has launched a three-month food for work programme.
According to the Kabul municipality, each person is given 50 kilograms of flour, five liters of cooking oil and five and a half kilograms of beans in exchange for 15 days of work.
In a statement, the municipality said the food for work programme was launched in 3rd and 5th police district of Kabul on Monday.
The programme would continue for three months and through this a large number of citizens would find short-term jobs.
According to the statement, at least 750 people have so far been hired in this programme to clean small water canals and sweep some roads.
The statement did not provide details about how many people would be employed in the program in three months.
