KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan Mixed Martial Art (MMA) fighter Ahmad Wali Hotak on Tuesday returned to the country after gaining victory at AMC Fight Night encounter against his Russian opponent.
On July 15, Hotak defeated his Russian opponent, Vladimir Osipov.
Addressing reporters at the Kabul Airport, Hotak said: “I had a very high motivation and did not forget that millions of Afghans are waiting for my victory and I must win.”
He added that his eye was injured in the fight and he could not see for a night, but he did not feel pain because of the victory.
In response to Pajhwok reporter’s question about how strong his opponent was? With a loud laugh, he replied: “My opponent was very strong; I was able to defeat him very hardly; I mean, I have never been beaten so much in any match.”
He said he was greatly encouraged by his people and he gained more motivation and was counting the moments for his next fight which would be held in September this year.
He added that his next fight was supposed to be held on August, but it was postponed according to the doctors’ advice.
Hotak said his aim was to make his countrymen enjoy the sport and send a message of peace and unity.
Mirwais, one of Hotak’s fans who came to greet the MMA fighter, said that Hotak was pride of his country.
