Iran forcibly deports 847 Afghan refugees

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation says in the last two days, more than 2,600 Afghan refugees living in Iran and Pakistan have returned to their homeland voluntarily and forcibly.

The MoRR said that according to the information of Nimroz Provincial Directorate of Refugee Affairs, 980 immigrants returned from Iran voluntarily and forcibly in the ongoing month.

“Among the returnees, 40 families comprising 164 people and 550 single people, were forced to enter the country and 12 families or 46 people and 220 single people, entered the country voluntarily.”

According to the ministry, among these, 30 families comprising 65 men and 62 women and also 57 single people have been introduced to the office of the International Migration Organization (IOM) for receiving assistance.

Also, the Islam Qala Border Directorate of Refugee Affairs in western Herat Province announced the forced and voluntary return of 1,676 Afghan migrants from Iran on 3^rd of Asad.

Among the mentioned people, 23 families comprising 81 people and 52 single people were forcibly expelled and 89 families comprising 367 people and 776 single people entered the country voluntarily.

Among these people, 30 families including 54 men and 59 women and 30 single people have been introduced to the office of the International Organization for Migration and a child protection office (WAR CHILD) for the purpose of receiving help.

The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation says that at the same time, seven families of immigrants living in Pakistan, including 57 of them who did not have documents, have also returned to their homeland via Spin Boldak.

According to reports, about five million Afghans live in Iran and more than three million Afghans live in Pakistan.
