PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has once again offered to provide online education facilities for Afghan students.
President Dr Arif Alvi renewed the offer on Monday, saying the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and the Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) would teach Afghan students online.
Speaking to Mufti Taqi Usmani before his departure for Kabul, Alvi noted Afghanistan did not have nationwide internet connectivity.
Initially, the president said, education materials of AIOU and VUP could be communicated to Afghan students through its television network.
The offer was floated for the first time when Afghanistan’s minister of education told the president higher education in his country was in dire straits.
Alvi has conveyed the online education offer during his meetings with the Afghan ambassador, and consuls-general and other officials, according to APP.
He said Pakistan always desired peace and development in Afghanistan and it could not happen without development of their own human resource.
