Farah Provincial Hospital sans pediatricians

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Local health officials in western Farah province have complained against the lack of children specialists in the children's section of Farah Provincial Hospital and said people transferred their patients to Kandahar City for treatment.

Farah Hospital Head Dr. Salahuddin Ahaditold Pajhwok Afghan News: "We have a 42-bed ward for children, but the number of the ailing children reached 90 to 120, and we do not have a specialist doctor, so we are forced to send patients to other provinces

He said that they had shared this problem with the Ministry of Public Health and hoped that the issue would be solved.

He added, considering the population and the increase in clients, it was necessary to upgrade the provincial hospital to a zonal hospital in order to solve the problem provided health services to every visitor. After the hospital is upgraded people will not send their children to Kandahar for treatment, he added.

Mohammad Sharif, 30, who brought his two-year-old daughter, suffering from eye infection said: “My economic situation is not good. The doctors say that it is not possible to treat your daughter here and you should transfer her to Herat province and I have no idea what should do.”

This comes that in recent months the hospital was upgraded from 120 to 150.
