Maidan Wardak wool traders want market for their product

MAIDAM SHAHR (Pajhwok): Wool traders in the Hisa-i-Doem Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province have asked the government to explore market for their product.

Abdul Ahad, a trader and resident of Behsud district has been in this business since three years, he said the market is down and they cannot fulfill their economic needs through this business.

He said that he bought wool from nomads (Kochis) every year, but the prices are high this year that damaged his business. Earlier seven kilogram of wool was accounted for 250 afs but now the price of the same quality surged to 350.

Mohammad Wasiq is another businessman who buys wool, washes it, spun it to wool yarn which can be used in rugs and carpets.

Wasiq said: “It is a hard work; I hired dozens of workers and pay 350 Afghanis each one per day”.

He had 20 to 25 thousand Afghnis revenue monthly but now he earned onley 15,000 because of deteriorated economic condition and the wool price is high rocketed. Ha asked the government’s support for the exploration of domestic and international market.

Information and Culture Department Director Mawlavi Safiullah Rayed told Pajhwok Afghan News domestic business will boost with the reopening industrial parks.

He added that the ministry of industry is trying to pave the way for Afghan domestic products to international markets.

He said: “we have talked to the Ministry of Industry about the exploration of new markets marketing, and the ministry assured us that it will sign agreements for the export of local products.
