LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested a man trying to smuggle 35 hand grenades to Pakistan in the Garamsir district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
Provincial Department of Information and Culture said the accused was arrested with 35 hand grenades yesterday in Lakara area of Garmsir district.
Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, Deputy Director of Information and Culture, said the detainee was a bomb smuggler and wanted to transfer these bombs to Pakistan.
He did not give more details, but he added that the accused has been handed over to judicial organs.
About a week ago, intelligence forces seized 50 pistols and a quantity of drugs in Dand Patan district of Paktia, which were being smuggled from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
