KABUL (Pajhwok): Top Chinese and Indian diplomats have exchanged notes on the current situation in Afghanistan, underlining the need for peace and stability in the war-torn country.
In a rare meeting, Chinese Special Envoy for Afghanistan Yue Xiaoyong held talks with Ministry of External Affairs Joint Secretary JP Singh on Afghanistan, The Times of India reported on Saturday.
The diplomats agreed to encourage engagement, step dialogue and give positive energy for Afghan peace and stability, the newspaper quoted Singh as saying.
India and China conferred on the predicament of Afghan women and children, humanitarian assistance and terrorism. They believed the use of Afghanistan’s soil could not be allowed for terrorist activities against countries in the region.
The two sides discussed ways of bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan, according to Indian officials, with the Chinese envoy hailing his trip as “good".
