GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Recent floods destroyed 70 percent of the agricultural land in southeastern Paktia province besides sweeping away hundreds of houses, local officials said on Tuesday.
Maulvi Abdul Rauf Saeed, Paktia agriculture director, told a press conference here that the recent floods destroyed crops on 18000 acres of land in Paktia, which constituted up 70 percent of the entire province's agricultural land.
According to him, this all kinds of crops, including wheat, had been planted on the land and some crops were about to be harvested. Besides destruction of crops, some 200 domestic animals were killed in the floods . . .
