KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore gas reserves in Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, and produce 300MW of electricity, an official said on Friday.
Zabihullah Mujhaid, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, on his Twitter handle wrote the agreement was signed with Chinese State Company Yellow Reviver Engineering Consultancy at the end of Investment Attraction conference.
The Chinese Company agreed with the Ministry of Water and Energy, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat to explore gas reserve areas in Shiberghan and then produce 300MW electricity.
The Investment Conference was held in Kabul Inter-Continental Hotel and attended by high-ranking Islamic Emirate officials including Energy and Water Minister Abdul Latif Mansour.
