Rains, lightning, floods predicted in 19 provinces

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Meteorological Department has predicted rain, lightning and floods in 19 provinces of the country today and tomorrow and temporary strong winds in three provinces.

The department on Tuesday issued a flood warning in Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Panjsher, Kapisa, Parwan, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Ghazni, Zabul, Uruzgan, Daikundi and Kandahar provinces.

The department said the rain was estimated at different points from 10 to 35 mm, adding that there was a possibility of strong winds in Herat, Farah and Nimroz provinces. It estimated the wind speed at 20 to 65 kilometers per hour in different areas.

Recently, flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains caused life and financial losses to people in several provinces of the country.
