MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Nine-hundred less fortunate families in the Dawlatshah district of the eastern Laghman province have received food assistance, an official said on Wednesday.
District Chief Qari Abdul Qaher Mutawakil told Pajhwok Afghan News that 900 less fortunate families in Dawlatshah district received food items provided by World Food Program (WFP).
Mutawakil said every family received the package of 50 kilogram bag of rice, six kilograms bag of pulses, 4.5 liters of cooking oil and a quantity of food for malnutrition.
The WFP assistance has been praised by the residents who asked for its continuation.
Hafizullah, a resident of Tangi area in Dawlatshah district told Pajhwok: “The unemployment and economic problems spread everywhere; we hope more government’s attention in this regard.”
In the past, vulnerable persons in Dawlatshah district also received food assistance.
