China vows to ramp up cooperation with Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): China has blasted the United States for adopting double standards in the war on terrorism and disregarding the sovereignty of other nations.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu also pledged ramping up bilateral; cooperation with Afghanistan.

He insisted that US counter-terrorism operations must respect other countries’ sovereignty in accordance with international law.

US drones were still patrolling Afghanistan’s airspace, alleged the diplomat, who blamed Washington for pursuing its own interest in the war-devastated country.

On the other hand, the ambassador said, his country continued supporting Afghanistan and delivering humanitarian assistance to the Afghans.

China planned to ramp up cooperation with Afghanistan in mining and energy sectors, the envoy said, hoping for more cooperative and deeper bilateral ties.
