KABUL (Pajhwok): Seventeen Sharila law faculties will be established in public sector universities in different provinces and Islamic studies subject hours increased from one hour to three hours.
Maulvi Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the acting Minister of Higher Education, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of a five-day meeting titled “National Program for Educational Review and Development of the Universities of the Country.”
He acknowledged the lack of trained staff and academics were among the basic problems of the country’s educational institutions.
He added standard educational curriculum was needed and religious and national values should be included in this curriculum in order to improve the educational sector.
According to him, Sharia law faculties will be established in 17 provinces and professors will be recruited for them.
Also addressing the event, Abdul Raouf Farahi, the head of the educational curriculum at MoHE, said work would be done on educational curriculum of physics, biology, mathematics, and chemistry related to the faculty of science.
He said so far work has been done on the curriculum of medicine, agriculture, Shariah and engineering faculties.
Farahi said in the next program, work will be done on the curriculum of computer science and veterinary pharmacy.
