KABUL (Pajhwok): China is trying to start extraction work at the Mes Aynak copper mine in central Logar province soon after the transfer of historic artifacts from the site, the country’s ambassador in Kabul says.
A 30-year mining contract was signed with a Chinese company in 2008 to develop the Mes Aynak copper mine in Logar which is estimated to contain more than 11 million tons of copper.
About two years ago, 3100 historical artifacts were found at the site and work related to the mine has progressed slowly and the extraction work has not yet started. Mess . . .
