ATLANTIA (Pajhwok): The US Department of State plans to expedite the evacuation process of Afghans at-risk, according to a media report on Thursday.
The Department of State made the remarks after hundreds of Afghans currently staying in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) staged a protest regarding the delay in their transfer to the next destination.
Ned Price, a spokesperson for the Department of State, told Voice of America: “We will strive to safely evacuate those Afghans currently in Afghanistan and they have permanent citizenship of US, hold green cards, Special Immigration Visa (SIV) and eligible to stay in US.”
He said they had increased resources and facilities to step up the transfer of eligible Afghans and holders of SIV.
This comes the acting Afghan government repeatedly said that the country was safe and secure for all Afghans and there was no threat to anybody in the country.
