JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Recent rainfalls and flash floods in eastern Nangarhar province have damaged around 1,200 houses and destroyed hundreds of acres of agricultural land.
Saifullah Khalid, director of the Natural Disaster Management Authority in Nangarhar, told Pajhwok Afghan News water levels in Kabul and Kunar rivers had risen over the last 48 hours, affecting nearby houses.
He said the recent rains and floods had inflicted huge losses on people in the Zakhel area of Kama district.
The official added most of the families were currently living in mosques and schools, with some shifting to other people’s houses.
