GHAZNI (Pajhwok): The Kabul-Kandahar Highway, which was closed at several points in southern Ghazni province, has been reopened for traffic, an official said on Saturday.
Ghazni Public Works Director Maulvi Mohibullah Abbas told Pajhwok Afghan News the highway had been closed as a result of flash floods on Monday.
“The main road was blocked, vehicles were driven on irregular paths and in deserts. But today the main highway was reopened,” he said.
According to Abbas, the vital highway was reopened after intense efforts by the Public Works Department and the Al Hamza 3rd brigade.
Drivers and passengers were thrilled by the reopening of the highway.
Mohammad Waseel, one of the drivers, said: “Most passengers spent nights on road due to floods. Later, their problems multiplied. But the positive news is that the highway has been reopened and people would be able to travel without trouble.”
