ASADABAD (Pajhwok): One person was killed and five others injured in a roadside blast in Asadabad, the capital of eastern Kunar province, early on Sunday, an official said.
Police Chief Abdul Haq Haqqani told Pajhwok Afghan News: “This morning at 8:30am security personnel of Ghaziabad district were on their way to Asadaba in a military vehicle when a roadside blast in on the Karhali bridged struck their vehicle, three security personnel and as many civilian got injured but later one person succumbed to his wounds.”
He said security forces rushed to the site of the blast and arrested some suspected individuals who were being investigated.
An Eyewitness Malang said: “It was 8:30am; we were walking over Karhali bridge when a blast happened, people were running here and there and we saw some individuals bathed in blood later some security personnel arrived and took them.”
A physician in the Asadabad Provincial Hospital on the condition of anonymity said: “Seven injured had been shifted to the hospital from the site of the blast, one succumbed to wounds.”
No group claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
