LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Residents of the Musa Qala district in southern Helmand province say they have long been deprived of paved road and urge the government to address this problem.
Mohammad Gul, a resident of Gulkarez area of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had been deprived of paved road for years and the people were facing many problems while traveling.
“Our patients often die on the way to Lashkargah city because the road is rough and we don’t reach the hospital on time,” he added.
He said people brought food and non-food items from Lashkargah in pick up vehicles which often developed faults due to the bumpy road.
He urged the government to construct and pave the Musa Qala-Lashkargah Road.
Eng Nisar Ahmad Nusrat, roads protection and evaluation in charge in public work department, said first they would reconstruct the Helmand-Kandahar highway and then the Musa Qala-Lashkargah Road.
He said currently they lacked enough budget to construct roads leading to districts.
