One Child killed, another injured in Herat celebratory fire

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): One child has been killed and another wounded in celebratory gunfire in western Herat province, an official said on Sunday.

Police spokesman Mohammad Shah Rassouli confirmed the incident that happened in the Torghondai area of Rubatak district on Saturday evening.

He said one child was killed and another wounded due to celebratory firing at a family function in the area.

According to Rassouli, an individual has been arrested in connection with aerial firing.

Abdul Qayoum, a resident of the locality, said firing on such occasions was a normal practice. He urged the government to stop the practice.
