KABUL (Pajhwok): German and Uzbek presidents have discussed enhanced cooperation in ensuring Afghanistan’s reconstruction, reports an independent Russian media outlet said on Tuesday.
Interfax said Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier conferred on the imperative of peace in Afghanistan during a phone call on Monday.
“The presidents … expressed their support for broader practical cooperation and promotion of joint programs and projects to deepen long-term partnership,” the news agency said, citing a statement from Mirziyoyev’s office.
The two sides underlined the need for continued and active cooperation with efforts for permanent peace and socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
