18-year-old girl commits suicide in Faryab

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A girl allegedly committed suicide and separately six people were wounded in an accident in northern Faryab province, an official said on Wednesday.

Information and Culture Director MawlaviShamsullah Mohammadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the 18-year-old girl committed suicide with a shotgun in Yangi Bibi Aina Gozar area in jurisdiction of seventh police district in Maimana, the provincial capital.

Mohammadi said parents of the girl wanted to engage her against her will and it prompted her to commit suicide.

A tribal elder, who declined to be named, that security forces had launched a house-to-house search in the area.

Meanwhile, an official said six people were injured when a motorcycle collided with two rickshaws in Shirin Tagaab Market today (Wednesday) morning.
