SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): There are a total of 409 schools in northern Sar-i-Pul province and the buildings of 286 schools need repairs, a senior official said on Saturday.

Mawlavi Mohammad Rahmani, the provincial director of education, told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview that the structures of 286 schools had been partially destroyed in Sari-i-Pul province, which needed urgent repairs.

Some buildings’ roofs while other buildings walls or doors are destroyed, he said.

Rahmani said: “Majority of the schools lack furniture, their furniture has been stolen or not supplied at all”.

“We shared the issue with 12 coordinating institutions and the repair works in 12 schools have begun so far”. Rahmani added.

In some schools, the appointment of teachers has been postponed since two decades in Kohistanat, Suzma Qala, Sherumha and Sayed Abad districts. “We have removed these limitations from some schools”.

“We are trying to get orders for new teachers’ appointments from the ministry of education.”
