KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN Security Council (UNSC) and the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kabul.
The September 5 attack, claimed by the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP), resulted in the deaths of at least 6 people, including two Russian embassy employees, and injured several more.
In a statement, members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims. They wished a speedy and full recovery to the injured.
The members of the Security Council called on all relevant parties to respect and ensure the security of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel of United Nations member states.
The Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constituted one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
In a separate statement, the OIC General Secretariat reiterated its previous calls on the de facto authorities in Kabul to double down their efforts in resolutely countering any terrorist attempt to destabilise the country and spread terror among the civilian population and the diplomatic community.
The OIC General Secretariat extended its genuine condolences to the families of the victims of tragic blast, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
