KABUL (Pajhwok): A Black Hawk helicopter has crashed at a military training base in Kabul, killing at least three people, the Ministry of Defence says.
A statement from the ministry, confirming the incident that took place on Saturday afternoon, linked the crash to a technical error.
In addition to the three fatalities, including two pilots, five people were wounded, according to the statement, which said nothing about condition of the wounded
Meanwhile, Reuters quoted the Defence Ministry spokesman as saying the American helicopter went down during a training exercise inside the National Defence University.
A shopkeeper in the Qargha area of Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity that the copter crashed soon after takeoff at about 4.00pm.
Most of the helicopters owned by Afghan security forces were flown to neighbouring countries, including Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, in August 2021, when the Taliban seized power.
