PARON (Pajhwok): For the first time, PU AMI organization has launched its activities in eastern Nuristan province.
PU-AMI aim is to provide a rapid global response to the basic needs of populations affected by humanitarian crises to help them regain independence and dignity.
The not-for-profit, non-political and non-religious NGO has been operating in various countries including Afghanistan since 2011.
Justina, in charge of the organization, who visited Nuristan province and met with Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakeem, said the residents of Nuristan were facing problems concerning health and other sectors.
She added they wanted to extend their activities and services to the province and help the people in the field of health.
Governor Mohammad Agha Hakeem said Nuristan had a complex geographical structure and many of its residents had no other source of income other than livestock.
The recent natural disaster severely affected the people of the province and damaged their only source of income due to which people faced poverty and other problems, the governor said.
He asked the head of the organization to help residents of the province in by activating of health centers and provision of ambulances, along with other humanitarian aid.
The people of Nuristan were happy that PU-AMI organization had started working in the province.
Bashir Ahmad Jalali, a civil society activist, told Pajhwok Afghan News the people of Nuristan lived a hard life because children and women were busy in hard labor and rearing livestock so they needed the help of such organizations.
